GOT polish? Blue!

This week's Golden Oldie Thursday theme is blue (not purple as I thought, oops! Good job I checked...) and I just couldn't settle on a design. I have a lot of blues, but none that are particularly neglected in my stash as I do use them a fair bit. Then I came across this polish, W7 Mosaic, which I loved when I bought it back in summer 2012 but have only worn it once. Bad Helly. To be fair, since I wore it the first time, the formula seems to have changed. I would have sworn the purple glitters were navy blue, or at least darker purple where they are now mauve. And it's gotten considerably more topcoat hungry. Two coats of Poshe and the stamping still vanished into the bumpy finish. It still looked great though, and since it reminds me of the bottom of a swimming pool I used a swirly, watery stamp on top, in Barry M Gold Foil.

Have you ever had a polish change on you over time? I still like it this way, I would just prefer a smoother finish.

Introducing Lacquerdaisical!

I'm so excited to introduce you to a new UK Indie brand today! Lacquerdaisical polishes (love the name!) are hand made by lovely Alexia, and she contacted me recently to ask if I would give them a try. At the moment her range includes glitters, toppers, thermal polishes and a glow in the dark texture polish - how could I say no?! I have the thermals to show you today, and I hope you love them as much as I do! (Be prepared for an onslaught of pictures!)

The first polish I had to get on my paws when I tore into the package like a savage beast was Jaffa Fake, a brown to orange thermal with a gorgeous purple shimmer. How clever is the name? And the polish is just as genius! When it's cool it's a stunning chocolate brown, with fine purple shimmer running through it adding tonnes of depth and interest. Then once it warms up it shifts to a delicate orange, still showing the shimmer, and just looks good enough to eat! I had lots of fun running my fingers under hot and cold water, bumpung my nails against radiators and cold drinks and even putting my hands in the oven and the freezer! Don't try that at home! It's just such a fun polish!

Once I'd finished risking third degree burns, I had to stamp over it, and it was so pretty!

The other thermal is Purple Phase, a stunning deep aubergine with violet shimmer when cold, which transforms into a stunning grey-blue when it warms up. The shimmer in this is just stunning when it's warm, leaving such a delicate sheen in contrast to the dark cool colour.

Of course, I had to get the stamping gear out again!

The formula on these was quite thick, but not at all gloopy and I had no trouble with application. I used three coats and there is still a fair bit of visible nail line underneath in the warm state. If this bothers you (to be honest, it didn't bother me at all and usually I'm not keen on VNL) you could wear a nude shade underneath, or a colour close to the colour of the polish when it's warm and it wont affect the thermal aspect at all. They dry matte, but Lacquerdaisical recommends base and top coat, and I would as well! These polishes are such a lot of fun, and I think I'll be getting a lot of use out of them!

Off topic Tuesday - Sleek Pomegranate Blush review

Hi!

I have a Sleek Blush to share with you today. I'm a big fan of Sleek eyeshadows, and I've recently picked up a couple of blushes to try too, and have been really impressed. The pigmentation is great, they have just the right amount of shimmer and are really bleandable. Pomegranate is a berry toned blush that's perfect for that winter flush. The packaging is, well, sleek and the product comes in matte black casing with a handy mirror in the lid. When you open it, the texture of the blush looks like velvet, and it feels just as soft. Overall, I'm really impressed with Pomegranate, and it's made its way into my regular winter make up routine.

I purchased this blush from Superdrug priced £4.49. Bargain!

Tri Polish Challenge Red, Orange and Yellow #3 - swirly stamping

Morning!

I had a brain freeze when it came to this week's Tri Polish Tuesday so I resorted to some simple stamping. I did push a little out of my comfort zone though - I tend to usually stamp in either black, white, silver or gold, because I know I can get a good result with those polishes and I rarely try any others. I have picked up a few Sally Hansen Insta-Dry polishes whenever I've seen them though, as I've heard the majority of them are good for stamping, and in this instance I couldn't be more pleased with the result. I used Barry M Blood Orange and Sally Hansen Insta-Dry Man-go Team and was really pleased with how well both of them stamped! I used Konad plate M65 for the swirls and really loved how it came out. I will definitely be putting more of my Insta Dry polishes into my stamping box!

I visited my Mum on Sunday, for the first time since I started using Duri, and she thought I was wearing false nails! I just love it when that happens! I gave her a bottle of Nail Envy and it's really worked for her. When she showed me she said, my nails are as long as yours, but mine are real, and I got a real kick when I said mine were real too! It's the little things ;)

Studs and Roses

Hi!

I was in the mood for roses, and I won some of Mr Barry M's new matte polishes from the lovely Lane's Laquers, so I decided to combine the two and throw some studs at it for good measure! I used Vanilla and Espresso, stamped with Konad Black and plate BM 323 for the roses. The stripes were freehanded and came out somewhat thicker than I wanted, and none of it was topcoated to keep the matte effect. But this also meant that 6 out of the 8 studs pinged off while I was getting my eyebrows threaded...

I don't know, but it kinda reminded me of Robyn Thicke when Miley Cyrus ground her rubber clad but against his groin. Not pleasant. I liked it enough but it didn't last the day... Vanilla is going to be a favourite though. What do you think?

Palate Cleanser of the Week - Models Own Emerald Black

Hello!

This week's palate cleanser is this beauty from Models Own. Emerald Black is part of their Beetlejuice collection of duochromes, which they add to every now and again. At first glance, it looks like just a pearly black, but under the right light it shifts green with a tinge of blue. In sun, the green really glows and makes it really special. Shown here is two easy coats, plus Jacava London topcoat.

Pretty :) The one thing I find with Models Own polishes is that they have that smell. The slight headache inducing, definitely not big 3 free kinda smell, but if you can overlook that they have a huge range and are always on top of the trends. I really like Emerald Black and think it would be a great base for some stamping ;)
