Tri Polish Challenge April #5 - Hippy trippy brushstrokes

Hi!

Final pink, blue and yellow Tri Polish challenge, as it's the last Tuesday in April! I know I say this every month, but seriously, how? Anyway, for today's challenge I used some home-frankened sheer polishes in the vein of the OPI sheer tints. I kind of want the sheer tints, but I've heard bad things about the formula so decided to have a go at making my own! All in all, I was pleased with them although I think my blue could be a little more sheer. I'll get a post together on how I did it and their various uses when I've perfected them, but for today's mani I did a simple brushstroke base over two coats of Crabtree & Evelyn Snowdrop. Once that was dry I stamped over it with Konad white and MoYou XL Pro 10. Quite hippy trippy but I love it!

Soft and delicate...and slightly out of focus! Sorry about that!

Next month's colours are purple, red and green. I'm in two minds whether to do the whole month, I'm feeling guilty about my untried again! Maybe I'll do one or two, we'll see!

Tri-Polish Challenge April #3 - Fade to Neon

Hi!

I'm a twit. I thought I was super organised and had this post scheduled for 8am, but I didn't so you're getting it at 8pm instead! For this week's TPC I went with neon and white gradients using all Color Club polishes, from the Poptastic collection - Warhol (pink), Chelsea Girl (blue), and Almost Famous (yellow). I did the gradients and had intended to either stamp or dot over them, but decided I liked them plain. I did feel like it was missing something though!

I can finally show my thumb again after a nasty break a while ago, as it's finally catching up again! Yay!

Tri Polish Challenge April #3 - Blue, yellow and pink

Hi!

We're mid-way through April and mid-way through the school Easter holidays, so please forgive me if I'm a little cranky! My little darlings have been very demanding and later on we're off to build a birds nest and a fire in the woods. Basically, we're making things with sticks. Such fun! Anyway, I went simple for the TPC today. I had plans for all singing and dancing multicoloured gradients but instead went for a simple accent nail and stamping. Maybe next week... I used Beauty UK Blue Himalayan and Miss Sporty Taxi (incidentally, these were my primary school colours, so I reminisced a bit before I stamped!). The stamping was done with Sally Hansen Insta-dry Speedy Sunburst and MoYou Pro XL 6.

I love the contrast of the bright primary colours here, really simple but eye catching. I've just realised that April has 5 Tuesdays this year, so maybe I'll get that all singing and dancing multicoloured gradient in after all!

Tri Polish Challenge April #2 - Barmy Blue and Neon too

Hi!

This week's TPC couldn't be more different to last weeks - in contrast to soft, pastel and girly I have gone for neon, sharp edges and eyesearing! I started with a base of white and then sponged a gradient with Rimmel Barmy Blue and Models Own Bubblegum. Because they're both quite deep colours I had to sponge on a few more layers than usual and so mu sponge started sticking to my nails. So I decided to cover it up with a good old bit of stamping, with Pueen 52 and Konad White.

I think I should have added a navy blue at the cuticle end of my nail, as I wanted the base a bit darker, but overall I was pleased with these :) I think I was all pastelled out after last week! And I must just put a good word in for these new Pueen plates, so far they are flawless. Good stuff.

Tri Polish Tuesday - April #1 Blue, Pink & Yellow

How is it April already? Not complaining, the sooner summer comes the better! The tri polish colours this month are blue, yellow and pink, which just screamed floral to me so that's what I went with for week one! The base is Barry M Huckleberry (naughty, steaky, gloopy polish, but so pretty!) which I then stamped this script writing from MoYou XL Pro 07 on top of. I have no idea if it says anything, means anything or is from something but it fitted what I wanted here! I then freehanded some flowers using two pinks, Orly Preamp, which I thought would add depth as it is sparkly, but it wasn't enough, so I added OPI Pink Friday accents. The middles of the flowers are Illamasqua Blow. Once I'd topcoated it, I mattefied it too, and it just made it all so much more delicate looking.

I think this is one of my favourite manis ever! Possibly...I think...there's been so many now! I am rather fond of it though!

Tri Polish challenge blue, green and purple #4 - Flossing...

Hi!

For the last TPC of the month of March I decided to try something a little bit silly! I started off with an off-white base - Sally Hansen Lavender Cloud, and then used a little dental flosser to make the lines across the nail using all Barry M polishes - Key Lime, Cobalt Blue, and Plum. I topped it with a sparse gold glitter, Nails Inc Glamour Glitter, and overall it looked quite abstract and interesting.

I felt like it was missing something so I added a couple of stamped accents using MoYou Pro XL 6.

Next month's TPC colours are pink, yellow and blue - will you be joining in?

Tri Polish Challenge, Blue, Purple and Green #3, Flutterbies!

Hi all!

Silly Mr NN got me a mug for valentines day this year (don't ask) and I noticed that the colours were perfect for this month's tri polish challenge so I decided to recreate it, or at least try! I actually changed the colours a little but they still fit. I used Rimmel Salon Pro Barmy Blue as my base and then made butterfly decals with Barry M Gold Foil, Barry M Greenberry and Beauty UK Lilac Girl. The single butterfly is from a Salon Express plate, and the other butterflies are from Pueen 39 (I don't know why I've not used it before, it's beautiful!) I like how this came out, I changed the clear polish that I used for the decals (LaFemme clear) and it works much better - and it was really cheap AND it doesn't smear stamping. Win! Excuse the awkward hand poses, it's a big mug and it was hard to hold and photograph!

There isn't a huge amount of the green and purple, but it is there! Quite a girly look this one, not very fitting for a clumsy oaf like me!

Tri Polish Challenge Blue, Purple and Green #2 - Quirky randoms

Hi!

I'm running low on inspiration, so for today's TPC I just went for something random and glitter, which is always a winner! Who doesn't love dots, leopard and a Nailside cloud, teamed with my favourite UK indie? I used Barry M Key Lime Pie and Blueberry, and Color Club Wild At Heart, and accented with Quirk Peace is Free. I'm not 100% sure the colours go together, but I can roll with it. The Color Club is a holo and of course the sun turned shy, so the bottom two pics are with flash to try and show it.

I don't have another nail post planned until Thursday, but I'm hoping it's going to be awesome! See you then!

Tri Polish Tuesday March #1 - Purple, Blue and Green watercolour!

Hi!

It's March and that means new tri-polish colours! Green, Blue and Purple aren't colours I'd usually put together, but I think for this mani they look really pretty - let's hope I can keep it up for the rest of the month hey! I used a base of Sally Hansen Lavender Cloud, which is a slightly off-white with grey tones and then sponged on my colours in random patches. I used Models Own Feeling Blue, Color Club Pucci-Licious and the green is a Barry M Limited Edition from last summer. I added topcoat to merge it all together a bit and then stamped a swirly sort of pattern from MoYou Sailor 04 and added some glitter to the tips before more topcoat. I really like the finished mani, although none of the separate elements did it for me it all came together in the end. Hurrah!

Prettyful! I think I need more MoYou plates in my collection, which would you recommend?

Tri-Polish Tuesday Pink, Brown and Grey #4 - Blobby blobby blobby...

Hi!

If you were around in the 90's you'll know what my title refers to (in the UK at least)! I loved and hated Mr Blobby for many reasons which I wont go into here, but anyway, blobby! I still feel like I haven't mastered the blobby vintage roses mani, but Mr NN said they were pretty so I'll take that! The colours used for the final TPC of the month are Barry M Lychee - brown (ok, nude, but you'll let me off wont you?!), Sally Hansen Eel Skin - grey, and two pinks, OPI Pink Friday and Kiss Me On My Tulips.

I can't believe we're at the end of February already. Next month's colours are green, blue and purple. Inspire me please! And do you have any tips for the blobby roses?

Tri-Polish Tuesday Pink, Grey and Brown #3 - Neon and on...

Hi!

I'm not sure what to say about this mani. The concept was good, but my nail art brushes let me down. I know, a bad workman always blames his tools, but I really need some new ones because my lines just aren't as crisp as I'd like. Oh well. The polishes I used were Sally Hansen Eel Skin and Models Own Bubblegum. I've heard that Bubblegum stamps well, which is unusual for a neon, so maybe I should have tried that.

It all looked so good in my head...

Tri-Polish Tuesday - Pink, Brown and Grey #2 - Chocolate box!

Hi!

As it's Valentines week, I am going to try to fit my challenge posts into the theme too! I thought this design looked chocolate box-y and since reduced chocolate the day after v-day is probably the best part I thought it fitted! I used OPI Skull and Glossbones, China Glaze Dance Baby and Barry M Mocha, and the accent is a mix of OPI Pink Yet Lavender and a heart glitter polish I've had for yonks.

I need to work on my lines, they've been a bit wobbly lately!

Tri-Polish Tuesday - Pink, Brown and Grey #1 - taped tips

Hi!

I'm excited about this month's TPC colours - pink, brown and grey. There just seems to be more options than last month - you can go pastel, neon etc without changing the colours whereas red is red so options are limited. Anyway, for the first challenge I kept it simple and went for a brown base in the form of Barry M Mocha and taped some elongated glitter trianges in Models Own Pink Fizz, a lovely rosey pink glitter. I'm really loving simple designs like this on my almonds, I should do them more often! My pictures again aren't fabulous, we're in the midst of 100 days of rain here in the UK it seems, so I have to apologise that they're more than a little dingy.

Next weeks TPC will be valentines themed! See you then!
