NOTD - Revlon Tropical Temptation

My name is Helen and I have a problem.

I nubbed my nails and was in the mood for a peachy-coraly-orangey-pinky polish, so I trotted off to my stash and pulled out a few of my polishes that fit the bill....

Ahem. Do I need all of these  peachy-coraly-orangey-pinky polishes? No. Surprisingly though, there aren't any exact dupes, but still.

Anyway, I went for Rimmel Tropical Temptation, a pretty coral that I'm sure I picked up in Poundland. It was a little streaky, but polishes this colour often are for some reason. I added a couple of little butterfly stickers as accents.

I was going to go for a big butterfly and a small one on the ring finger as well as the thumb, but I couldn't quite fit them on my newly nubbed nails. Usually my little and ring fingers have the longest nails, and never peel, but I took them all short to give the peels on the index fingers a chance to grow out and the misfit nail on the other hand to redeem itself (uit's getting there!) I may keep them short until stubby catches up and until them I'm lavishing lots of TLC and Lemony Flutter on them!

Are there any colours in your stash that you have far too many of? Somehow I can't quite bring myself to have a cull...I'm a collector I guess!

Purple Crumpet Spring Challenge - Day 29, April Fools

Today's challenge was something a bit twisted for April Fools day. I thought about turning my nails into creepy clowns but quickly thought better of it - I don't think I could stand it! Clowns are freaky, right? So I went for something easier, but it still looked great. I used two coats of Orly Androgenie (a birthday present from the fab Tracy, thank you love!), topped it with a coat of Nubar 2010 and then added some chain stickers in random lines across the nail.

Left hand

Right Hand (Excuse the sore cuticle on the middle finger)

And then I matterfied it, because mattefied flakies are too pretty and I couldn't resist.

I really liked this mani, I'd been wanting to use the chain stickers for ages as I won them in a giveaway a while ago, but couldn't think of the right mani for it. I'm glad I waited!

What do you think, twisted enough?

31 Day Challenge - day 29 inspired by the supernatural

*Queue X-files music*

Actually, I had another fail...BUT it wasn't my fault this time! I decided to use a Claires Mood Polish that I bought from a blog sale, but it didn't work :( I used Lonely/Loved, which should be a teal/light blue that changes according to heat. But NOTHING I do to this polish will make it change. Hands in freezer, nothing. Hands in oven, nothing. Maybe it's an old bottle and the whatever particles inside have worn out. Maybe my nails are too short. Maybe NAIL POLISH HATES ME!1! /emo

I thought whatever jiggery pokery is inside the polish would be appropriate for supernatural nails. It's MAJIK, obviously! But it didn't work so I stuck an alien sticker on my ring fingers. Lame, I know, sorry!

Pretty still, and super sheer! This was 4 coats!

Never mind, onwards and upwards! Only two days left and then it's time to break out the Christmas nails!

Tomorrow is inspired by a tutorial and I am going to spend the evening looking through a load :) Bliss!

Notd-I've been matching my nails to my shoes again...

Well, sort of matching. This is 2 costs of No 7 Poolside Blue. Great formula, same silly brush. Then I added some star stickers to my ring fingers and thumbs and noticed they sort of matched my new shoes...

Almost too gay to function...

Happy Pink Wednesday!

I recently got some nail art stickers free from Born Pretty Store and as soon as they arrived I knew they'd be perfect for a pink Wednesday :) If you haven't tried Born Pretty yet, well, why not? They have great products at great prices, often have competitions and give-aways, and FREE INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING! I got my fauxnads from there, on sale for $1.55 each - that's about a pound in British money. They're about $3 now, but still pocket money prices, and you can get as much or as little as you like because there's FREE INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING.

With this particular giveaway you could chose between Hello Kitty nail stickers or Chanel-looking ones. I'm not one for emblazoning a brand name all over my person, so I went for the cute kitty ones.

So, for this mani I used two coats of Barry M Strawberry Icecream as the base because I thought that would be the closest match I had to the colour of the stickers. It is a pretty good match, although I think the colour on the nail is a little cooler. But meh, I'm not fussy. Then to try to match the shimmery glitter on the sticker I added a coat of George at Asda Pink Glitz, a really pretty sheer shimmer, the particles in it almost look like teeny tiny flakies. In hindsight, I have another glitter topcoat closer to the glitter on the sticker, but I really like this George one and I hadn't used it, so now it can be moved from the untried box. Once that was dry (with the help of stinky Seche Vite) I used tip guides to add black french tips, then the stickers and another coat of Seche to seal it all.

Forewarning: In these pictures my cuticles are disgraceful, my skin is horrendous, I didn't clean up properly and because the baby isn't sleeping well (2am is not playtime) and had to be settled while it was drying there is fluff in there too. Also, I didn't realise until this morning but the seche dragged the tip colour a teeny bit so there are streaks. In other words, if you're of a sensitive nature and have just eaten lunch, don't look.

Index finger cropped out of shot because I broke it and it's wonky...

How super-awkward is it to take photos with your non-dominant hand?
Can just about see the wonky index. Grrr.
Products used L-R Sally Hansen miracle Growth, Barry M Strawberry Ice Cream, George Pink Glitz, Wet n Wild Shine Black Creme, Seche Vite.

So, that's my pink Wednesday for another week :) The wedding I'm going away to is on Saturday and I probably wont get time to change my nails until Friday night now, unless this mani gets completely disgusting then I'll do something simple tomorrow night. I'll schedule a post for Saturday, but wont be back until Monday! See you soon x
