Why does it have to be such a blue kiss?

It's been a while since I've done a Sunday Stamping mani, and this weeks theme was to use a colour combination you've not used before. I had to think hard, but eventually decided to use pink and blue and a design inspired by Mod Nails. I left off the bow from her design, as I only have white ones, and replaced it with a stud, and moved the designs around a bit. The polishes used were OPI Pink Friday and Sally Hansen Insta Dry Blue By, and the glitter was China Glaze Snow Globe. The kisses were from two Bundle Monster plates and an Essence plate, and the stripes (first time I've got them straight!) from MoYou Pro 01. Oh, and I went back to almonds which I think suits my curvy bendy nails much better when they're long.

I like this as a colour combo, and I wouldn't have thought of it if it wasn't for the challenge. I love how challenges continue to push me, even if I'm not always happy with the result! This time, I was though. Happy Helly.

33 Day Challenge day 13 - Chinese

Monday, bloody Monday...

Today's theme is Chinese and I have to admit today I took the easy way out, albeit unintentionally. I had planned a red and gold Chinese skittlette, with a bit of stamping, a bit of freehand, some glequins and some glitter but I got a bit carried away with the stamping! I sat down to stamp the first nail, and liked the look of it. So I stamped the next nail, and the next. Before I knew it I had a full stamped mani and my glequins were left in the pot. At least I like it! The base is the perfect A-England Percival and it's stamped with Barry M Gold foil and an unnamed Essence plate.

I really love the combination, and will have to remember Percival looks this good with gold for some Christmas manis ;)

Purple Crumpet Fairy Challenge - Favourite thing about Spring

The challenge is nearly over! Just two more posts after this, and we're done with spring! And we're finally getting some Spring weather - today we have had typical April showers, and I don't mind at all!

Onto today's nails, which was your favourite thing about Spring. Now while I love Spring for me the best thing about it is that it leads onto summer, and summer for me means flip flops! Yes, I painted feet on my nails. And what?

The base colour is Nails Inc Basil Street, which is my perfect creamy nude. It's actually pretty squishy and jelly-ish and is almost opaque in just one coat. The only thing is that the drying time isn't great, so if you want a quick perfect neutral mani add a quick drying topcoat and you're good to go! The other polishes are far too many to name, so I've included a picture - ask in the comments if you want to know a certain shade! All off the flip flops were done with striper polishes, and all of toes with a dotting tool and neon polish. I can't wait to try some neon pedicures for real this year!

That's a lot of polish!

Please don't tell me I'm alone in thinking these are kinda cure? No? Just me then...

Purple Crumpet Spring Challenge - Subtle Glitterbomb

I don't know about you, but I have never seen the words subtle and glitterbomb used together before. But I guess it means it should be all dainty and spring like, so that's what I went for! Imagine, if you will, a frozen river, hard and cold, slowly thawing in the springand revealing the running waters underneath. Now, take a look at my mani for today and hopefully you'll get what I was going for! Enough of the rubbish imagery, onto the nails!

Lynderella Snow Angel, a polish I never thought I'd own. Way too beautiful for me!

The accent nail is Essence Blue Addicted, another beauty, and apparently a dupe for Deborah Lippmann Across the Universe.

I have to thank two of the lovely generous ladies from my birthday club for these polishes. The lovely Tracy surprised me with a bottle of Blue Addicted just because she's such a sweetheart. And the Lynderella. Can you imagine the heart attack I had when I opened it? Thank you so much Kira!

I layered Snow Angel over OPI Play the Peonies and Blue Addicted over GOSH Blue Monday. Snow Angel took a lot of top coat. It's beautiful but it's hungry! This was three coats of Poshe but it could have taken more.

So there's my spring glitterbomb :)

Adventures in Stamping - Large Flowers

Aloha! Today's Adventures in Stamping theme was large flowers, which is also a theme for the Spring Challenge later in the week but I have something different planned for that! I used my Essence plate for this hibiscus flower. The gradient was done with a coat of white, topped with a coat of Sinful Colors Cinderella, and sponged with China Glaze Blue Years Eve (thanks Miagi!) I stamped with 17 Nail Extras Nail Tip Whitener, and it's not quite opaque enough. Can anyone recommend a good white stamping polish that's available in the UK or do I really have to get a special stamping one? Not that I'm tight or anything...

I like it, I just wish the flower was more opaque. Oh well, you live and learn!

31 Day Challenge - Day 22 inspired by a song

The song I chose was Set Fire to the Rain by Adele. I kinda wish I went with my other song choice now, but maybe I'll save it for another day!  I ysed one coat of Essence Multi Dimension Must Have (I was curious about Essence polish so picked this up on Ebay and it's great! Will search out more) on all fingers except my ring and thumb. Then I used my silver holo polish, M & S Rainbow to paint on raindrops. On the ring finger and thumb I painted a base of Barry M Gold Foil before sponging Maybelline Orange Couture, a Beauty Uk red from a box set and Nails Inc Tate to make flames. I topped that with Nubar 2010 and then stamped with the Barry M Gold Foil (brilliant for stamping :) ) the feathery pattern I used for my peacock nails, because I thought they could pass for flames too ;)

Oooh oh oh ooh oh, your rain is on fire....oh wrong song...

31 Day Challenge day 12 - Stripes

When I won Sarah Louise's awesome giveaway, I couldn't wait to try everything these Essence stripers. I've never used specific striping polishes or Essence polish before and I can say, colour me impressed. Easiest. Nailart. Evah. I used two coats of a deep racing green by Miss Sporty (number 470, if anyone's interested). Another good polish from Miss Sporty, I've never been let down by these polishes. Took 2 coats and was a little thin, but dried nice and shiny and handled well. Then I used the purple, gold and teal stripers (I also got a pink) in alternate stripes and topped with Seche.

Loved this mani, what do you think?

Tomorrow - animal print. Rawr.
