Pink Wednesday! 10 years of being fetch!

Hi!

As I said yesterday, Mean Girls is 10 years old today! Although it makes me feel terribly old, what better way to celebrate than with a special Pink Wednesday! My pink is Crabtree & Evelyn Peony accented by Funky Fingers Sand and Stilettos for a bit of sparkle. I then stamped some chevrons in Color Club Cloud Nine. Fetch, right?

It's been a while since I did a Pink Wednesday and it's been fun! Are you going to join in? You go Glen Coco!

On Wednesdays we wear PINK! Mean Girls 10th anniversary!

Hi!

When I first started blogging, the first ever "challenge" as such that I used to take part in was Pink Wednesdays - pink nails and you get to sit with the popular girls! I haven't done it in a while, but since tomorrow sees the 10th anniversary of the film, and it's a Wednesday I thought it would be the perfect time to bring it back! I'm posting this now to hopefully get some others involved, so if you can get a pink mani ready for tomorrow, please join in! There is a link to the inlinkz code to add your link to tomorrow below (I know it's short notice so it will be open for a week), so come and sit with the plastics!

Thanks to Becky at  www.pauseforpolish.blogspot.co.uk for the image!

Tri Polish Challenge April #5 - Hippy trippy brushstrokes

Hi!

Final pink, blue and yellow Tri Polish challenge, as it's the last Tuesday in April! I know I say this every month, but seriously, how? Anyway, for today's challenge I used some home-frankened sheer polishes in the vein of the OPI sheer tints. I kind of want the sheer tints, but I've heard bad things about the formula so decided to have a go at making my own! All in all, I was pleased with them although I think my blue could be a little more sheer. I'll get a post together on how I did it and their various uses when I've perfected them, but for today's mani I did a simple brushstroke base over two coats of Crabtree & Evelyn Snowdrop. Once that was dry I stamped over it with Konad white and MoYou XL Pro 10. Quite hippy trippy but I love it!

Soft and delicate...and slightly out of focus! Sorry about that!

Next month's colours are purple, red and green. I'm in two minds whether to do the whole month, I'm feeling guilty about my untried again! Maybe I'll do one or two, we'll see!

Bad to the bone...

Hi!

This week's adventures in stamping theme was to create a Bad A$$ mani, whatever that means! Now, I'm probably about the least bad ass person you could hope to meet, and so my mani was relatively simple but something I wanted to do for a while. I started with Color Club Nomadic in Nude, which is just a little cool for my skin tone and then stamped knuckle tattoos from the Bundle Monster CYO set - LOVE with a love heart on the thumb, and HATE with a skull on the thumb. Now while this is quite a simple mani, it is tricky to sget images like this to stamp cleanly because of the thin lines, and centrally on the nail. I don't think I did too bad (until I smeared a couple with the top coat), but I could do with more practice getting the stamps in the middle.

Photo courtesy of my 6 year old!

And my real tattoo, maybe I am just a lottle bit bad ass after all ;) Told you I like feathers!

GOT Polish? Totally Tropical!

Hi!

Today's Golden Oldie theme was tropical, and I thought I'd try my hand at a little stamping decal again! My golden oldies were China Glaze Peachy Keen and Color Club Poptastic (should have used Flip Flop Fantasy really!) I also used Milani Gold Gems and Sinful Colors Paris for a little glitter gradient. Don't look too closely at the decal, it folded over at the edge and smeared a little bit. I will perfect them one day!

Fits the tropical bill, no? I loved the gradient despite the little decal accident! I really can't wait for summer, I can't stop cracking out the neons! My pedi is even neon in readyness for real flip flops!

Crabtree & Evelyn do polish...

Hi!

I don't know about you, but Crabtree & Evelyn isn't a brand I associate with nail polish. Skincare and fragrance, yes, but they've recently launched a polish range too. So when Mr NN came home with four for me to try, I was excited to give them a go! Of the 21 shades available, he chose Tomato, Snowdrop, Mica and Pistachio, and today I have Mica and Tomato to show you. Mica is a lovely steel grey shimmer, and I used two coats for opacity here. It applies really well and dries quickly to a great finish. I used Tomato on my ring finger, which is, as you would expect, and orange toned red but with gold shimmery flakes that make it really special. I stamped some roses (again!) with a magnetic polish similar in colour to Mica and topped it all off with a coat of Poshe.

These polishes have a great formula and they're really pretty, too! Of the other colours I got, Pistachio is a pale green shimmer and Snowdrop is a white cream which I used as yesterday's neon gradient base and is a good 2 coat white - which are hard to come by! All in all, these polishes surprised me, I like them much more than I thought I would! And the best bit is the price, just £6 each and currently on offer at buy one get one half price online, although Mr NN says they are BOGOF in store (at least in the Canary Wharf store). I really like the look of Wisteria and Petal Pink too (hint hint!)

Have you tried Crabtree & Evelyn polish? What did you think?

Tri-Polish Challenge April #3 - Fade to Neon

Hi!

I'm a twit. I thought I was super organised and had this post scheduled for 8am, but I didn't so you're getting it at 8pm instead! For this week's TPC I went with neon and white gradients using all Color Club polishes, from the Poptastic collection - Warhol (pink), Chelsea Girl (blue), and Almost Famous (yellow). I did the gradients and had intended to either stamp or dot over them, but decided I liked them plain. I did feel like it was missing something though!

I can finally show my thumb again after a nasty break a while ago, as it's finally catching up again! Yay!

Off-topic Tuesday - MAC Lickable

Hi!

After my disappointing first foray into MAC lipsticks, which you can read about here, I decided to treat myself to the real deal and chose Lickable, a blue toned fuchsia in MAC's Creamsheen finish. While it's bright, it is ever so slightly sheer and with a little shimmer which makes it really wearable and not too in your face. The formula is great - moisturising and long lasting, and when it does wear away it wears evenly so doesn't leave you looking like you used a wax crayon on your lips. One of the best things about this lipstick, which was missing from the counterfeits I had previously, is the smell. As soon as I took the lid off the most beautiful, buttery, vanillary, chocolately scent wafted from it, which just makes it a pleasure to apply and wear. It does feather slightly on me, but I've yet to find a lipstick that doesn't and liner solves that. I just love it and have worn it almost everyday for two weeks! I might have to stop or I'll run out!

Are you a MAC lover? Which lipsticks are your favourites?

Chick chick chick chick chicken....

Hi!

Today's Adventures in Stamping theme, of course, was Easter! I was loving my Models Own speckled polishes so much, I turned them into Easter eggs with Bundle Monster BM402 and Konad white, then drew an egg shape on top and filled in the outside with a nail art pen. Lazy nail art? Why not, it is Sunday after all!

Simple eggies. Happy Easter everyone x

Models Own Speckled Eggs skittles!

Hi!

I know these polishes have been blogged to death, so I'll keep this short and sweet! When I saw the Models Own Speckled Eggs collection I wanted them all - not something that often occurs (honestly!). But when I got them I was underwhelmed so they sat in the untrieds drawer for a few weeks until I decided it was close enough to Easter to whack them on my nails. Well, I wish I hadn't waited now, because I really love them! Even the yellow is super pretty on the nail. These are all just two coats, which gives perfect coverage and just the right amount of glitter. They're not bumpy or rough either, and I think they'd even look good with matte topcoat. Pinkie to thumb, they are Goose, Swan, Magpie, Dove and Duck.

I'm not always a fan of everything Models Own brings out, but this time they hit the nail right on the head. Can we have neon versions, please?

Happy Birthday Superdrug! #superdrug50

Hi!

This year one of the champions of the British high street, Superdrug, turns 50! To celebrate lots of iconic brands sold at the store have released special limited edition birthday products, and when I saw Barry M's offering I had to grab it. A pink gelly base (reminiscent of their iconic pink carrier bags, perhaps?) stuffed to the brim full of sparkly goodness, I was utterly wowed when swatches started appearing and when I got it on my nails it just got better. I thought it would be a mare to apply, being so glitter packed, but in fact two easy coats, no dabbing or glitter manipulation needed and a generous topcoat and perfection. I paired it with Barry M Rose Hip Gelly and some stamped roses.

Have you picked up any of the special Superdrug 50th Birthday edition products? There are offerings from Revlon, Sleek, Olay, GOSH and loads more! I think it's great that in the tough financial climate we're in, with so many high street names closing down or going broke (RIP Barratts shoes!) we have something to celebrate! I couldn't imagine a high street without it, so Happy Birthday Superdrug, here's to 50 more years!

GOT polish? Hot pink!

Hi!

Today's Golden Oldie Thursday is feeling hot hot hot! Actually, we have had some sunshine lately, so hot pink was appropriate. After bashing the Revlon polish I used for last week's golden oldie, I actually reached for Revlon again, this time it was a shimmery fuchsia by the name of Strawberry Electric. The last time I blogged about this polish in the good old days of a pink Wednesday I might have mentioned once or twice how much the name annoyed me. Strawberry Electric? It should be Electric Strawberry surely...? Anyway, name aside this polish was actually much better than last week's coral. I used two coats and then stamped with Pueen 68 and konad black. My stamping isn't the best, so I added some black rhinestones as a distraction. Shiny...

Hot hot hot indeed! Not my favourite polish, but a great golden oldie :)

Introducing Moyra UK - Swatch and Review!

Hi loves!

Today I have an exciting European polish range that is new to us UK lacquerheads to share with you! According to their Facebook page Moyra is a European nail brand loved by nail technicians across the world for the world class quality, affordable prices and amazing colors. And what an array they have! There is a huge classic range with every basic colour you could every need, and then there are suedes, gel effects, sands, glitter, neons, holos - literally everything you could want and bang on trend too. Today I have a pastel shade, a gel look and a cheeky holo to share with you!

First up is this perfect lilac creme, a must have shade in any collection. The formula on this one is thin, but not unmanageable and I hardly had any clean up to do. Despite it being thin it wasn't at all streaky and here I used two easy coats. I couldn't resist adding a little stamp to this one!

Next I tried the gel look, Nathalie, a lovely shimmery red. It makes a nice change to have a gel effect polish with shimmer, as usually they're cremes. The shimmer in Nathalie makes it look so lush and juicy, I don't often wear red, but this one I could reach for over and over again. This was two perfect coats, with no topcoat. No topcoat, people! Shiny!

Finally the star of the show for me. Luna is a light green holographic polish which, for a budget brand, has the most amazing linear holo rainbow you could ever wish for! Again, two easy coats and no application issues at all. And the stunning result? I could stare all day...

I am super impressed with these polishes, especially at the price point. The pastel and holo polishes are just £3, while the gel looks cost £4, for a full size 12ml bottle. Bargain! At the moment you can purchase from Moyra's Facebook page, with a website coming soon. The range really is huge, so I'm sure there's something you'll love! I'm eyeing up the neon texture polishes next ;)
