It's So Fluffy, I'm Gonna Die!!!

Hi!

We're big Despicable Me fans in my house, and so I had to have Dollish Polish It's So Fluffy I'm Gonna Die for the name alone. Actually, I wasn't keen on the colour when I saw swatches so really I did just buy it for the name. That's bad, isn't it? Anyway, when it arrived I really did like it more than I thought I would, as it's much more complex than it seems. I had a bit of an indie fest for this manicure, pairing It's So Fluffy with Lacquerdaisical Unicorn Poo, and stamping a unicorn from Nailz Craze NC02. I actually think Unicorn Poo is the star of the show here - it's a glitter packed topper full of holo micro glitter, holo shards, bar glitter, hexes, stars and black hexes. I started with a base of OPI Pink Friday, then two coats of It's So Fluffy on pinkie and pointer, two coats of Unicorn Poo on ring finger and thumb, and stamped the unicorn on my middle finger with Sally Hansen Insta-Dry Speedy Sunburst.

It soooo pink! And if you haven't seen Despicable Me and don't get the unicorn/fluffy references, sort your self out and go and see it! Seriously, if grumpy Mr NN who usually only watches car shows and bloke things can stand watching it 20 thousand times since we got it on DVD at Christmas then you know it's good!

The return of the Tri-Polish Challenge! Red, Orange and Yellow

Hi!

Hooray, it's time for the first challenge of 2014, and the return of the Tri-Polish Challenge. I dabbled with the TPC last year and found it a lot of fun, so I'm joining in again and the rules are slightly different. The basic premise is to create 4 (or 5, depending where Tuesdays fall) mani's a month using the same 3 colours (last year you had to use the same polishes all month, but it's been relaxed a little). Last year, we posted on the last two Tuesday and Thursdays of the month, but this has been spread out so we post each Tuesday instead. Got it? Well, this month's colours are red, orange and yellow, and we are also allowed to use black, white, silver, gold and glitter toppers and I started off with some stamper decals that went a little bit wrong...

The polishes I used were A England Bridal Veil and Orly Au Champagne as the base, stamped with Konad White and Black Pearl, and the decals were made with Konad Black, Barry M Blood Orange and Mango, and Models Own Lemon Meringue and Nailz Craze plate NC03. (For a how-to on the decals, have a peek at my video tutorial.) The decals didn't apply very well and look a bit messy, but you get the idea. I love the little Russian dolls and I'm thrilled they fit my nails now!

If you'd like to join in the Tri Polish Challenge, head over to Crumpets Nail Tarts on Facebook and join in! And look out for the second CNT challenge on Thursday, something completely new, but old at the same time ;)

Wrap it up...

Hi!

I have been wanting to use the Christmas jumper/fairisle pattern on my Nailscraze NC03 plate since the moment I got it in my grubby little paws, but seeing as that was July I had to wait! And with the release of MoYou's festive plates it seems everyone has gone Christmas jumper mad, so I took a different route in order to use the awesome pattern! (Don't worry, I have a jumper mani planned too ;) ) Instead of jumpers I took my inspiration from wrapping paper and used sparkly Zoya Blaze as the base and stamped with Barry M Silver foil, combining the fairisle image with some Bundle Monster stripes. I smudged it with my topcoat and could have kicked myself, but hey, they still attracted lots of compliments! Now I've got my nails "wrapped" I guess I should get on with the actual wrapping...

Anyone else still not feeling Christmassy yet? I'm not exactly bah humbug but I'm just not feeling festive...

33 Day Challenge day 6 - texture with OPI Tiffany Case!

Hello day 6!

Today's prompt was texture, and I knew immediately what I was going to do for once! But, as I often find, when you've got a sure fire idea it all goes wrong...anyway, the end manicure didn't turn out too bad! I started with 2 coats of OPI Tiffany Case from their Liquid Sand collection. I don't often splurge on full-size OPI but this was just so pretty I treated myself! Once that was dry (it takes longer than you'd think and I dented it several times...) I stamped a white bow on the middle finger (from Konad M59) and some gems (from Nailz craze NC04) on the rest, imitating a real Tiffany and Co. box and the sparkly goodies inside - a girl can dream, right? No topcoat, it's all about the texture today! Although I imagine with topcoat the polish would be even more super sparkly!

Pretty, right? Well it was a pain to get it that way! First off, I kept dinging the polish. I would think it was dry enough, then look down and realise I'd knocked it on something. Then, once it really was dry I started the stamping, chosing my normal stamper instead of my squishy because the head of the squishy is white and I didn't think I'd be able to see the white polish I stamped the bow with (turns out you can...). Couldn't get my normal stamper to work without smudging. Blah. Also, I first tried to stamp the gems in silver but it didn't show up well enough. I spilled acetone everywhere while cleaning up, melting my favourite scraper. Yep, melted! You might also notice that this is my right hand, because it actually turned out better! Catalogue of errors! Worth it? I guess ;)

Wings and Things

Evening!

I've been sitting on this blog post all day, I just didn't have the energy to edit pics and put pen to paper (although I have been a lazy cow today, blah to Wednesday). Anyway, this mani should have been epic. It had all the makings of awesomeness (purple, glitter, butterflies, stamping) but somehow it left me just meh. Maybe it was just a bit busy? I don't know. I started with a coat of Models Own Ice Neon Pukka Purple. Purple neon one coater? Yup. Love it, and I actually wore it alone for a day before slapping the rest on. Then I added a coat of Crows Toes VooDoo, so many different shaped glitters, mostly purple and orange. After that I stamped butterfly wings from Nailz Craze plate NC01 - there are two different sizes of butterfly wing on the plate and I used the smaller one apart from for the thumbs. Oh, and I added more Pukka Purple dots at the tops of the wings. Pics show before and after stamping.

I love the stamp, and will definitely use it again, but maybe over a gradient or flakies next time.

Dandelions on the wind

Hello!

Still feeling summery, so today I opted for a holo. And then it rained. Of course. I got a little bit of sunshine for these pics but you'll have to trust me that the holo is really pretty! This is Depend Denim Blue holo which I purchased a tiny bottle of on Ebay. I wore it before and said I'd wear undies to preserve it next time as it's quite sheer and the bottle is only 5ml, but I forgot. Next time I will wear a light cornflower blue underneath as this was three coats and the fill line on the bottle is low! My pictures show sunlight and shade, because it really is pretty in either light. I'll change it for something non-holo tonight, just watch the sun come back! I stamped a dandelion clock from Nail Craze NC01 in Konad white and made it look like it was blowing across three nails. Very delicate and dainty. Unlike me...

Shade...

And sun...

I feel like this post was a bit rambly, so sorry if I don't make much sense! I'm a little bit overtired and over caffeinated I think - not a great combo! Peppermint tea for the next post I promise...

My mint mani for Talia Joy Castellano

Hi all

On Monday this week, a much loved member of the online beauty community went to play with the angels. In her memory, it was decided that, as the last photo Talia had posted on Instagram was of a mint coloured mani that to commemorate and celebrate her too short life, we would all wear mint on our nails today. It wasn't a hard decision for me to make as mint is one of my favourite nail colours, and I hope I did Talia justice.

I used Barry M Mint Green, and stamped with Pueen 47 in Konad White and Nails Craze NC01 in Barry M Gold Foil.

Sweet dreams, Talia. Hx
