33 Day Challenge day 33!!! Freestylin'!

Well, I made it! I am chuffed I completed the challenge on time, posted every day and even got a few good manicures in there! Go me!

Our final challenge was either a recreation of someone else's mani , or to go freestyle so I combined a bit of both with some #33DC skittles. I started with a base of China Glaze Electric Beat on all my nails (leaving a half moon on the middle finger). A simple glitter gradient on my pinkie, with Barry M Silver Glitter and Dollish Polish I Triple Dog Dare Ya! and a thin coat of OPI Silver Shatter on my thumb framed my recreations on the ring, middle and index fingers. The ring finger sports a Nailasaurus waterfall, as seen in the challenge by Brandy's Nailtastic Blog, Fingerfood, and Glam-madam. The polishes used were China Glaze First Mate, and Blue Years Eve, Models Own Feeling Blue and Rimmel Your Majesty. The middle finger was inspired by Sarah at Penny Pinching Polish - a half moon with added leopard print, because why the hell not. This one used Blue Years Eve and Your Majesty. And my index finger was another Nailasaurus design, as seen by Nailaddict, Ros and Brandy again (and I loved my original version so much, I wanted to do it again!) I used the same colours as I did for the waterfall, and I think the addition of a couple of shimmery polishes really adds depth.

So, that's it! Which of my 33 manis has been your favourite? My top 3 were the 3 colour gradient and pattern, Indian and new technique, with my South American Macaw coming in a close forth. 

33 day challenge. Done.

33 Day Challenge Day 11 - 3D

Morning

Firstly, I just have to say a few things have happened over the last week or so that are making it difficult for me in general at the moment. So please excuse me if I miss a few days or end up posting late for a while. I'm going to desperately try not to drop out of the challenge completely but I can't promise that either :(

Anyway, onto today's challenge which was to create a 3D manicure. It's well documented that I love a nautical mani, and I've never customised a set of false tips before so I combined the two and came up with this. I used a set of Elegant Touch Polished UV Gel Nails, which I blogged about here in Polished Red as the base, and customised them with caviar beads, rhinestones and a striper to create these simple 3D talons! Top tip - use a waxy eyeliner pencil to pick up your caviar beads - so much easier than messing around with tweezers or a toothpick dipped in topcoat!

31 Day Challenge - Day soemthingorother - half moons

Ok, so I've lost count of the days now - 18? 19? I'll sort my head out in a bit and check...anywhoooo!

Here are my half moons. I've worn half moons once before and loved them then, but I think I love this one more. I stared with two coats of a very sheer french manicure polish, Primrose by Maybelline. Once that was dry (which took aaaaages) I used french tip guides and OPI Meep Meep Meep to creater what I think is a really elegant manicure.

The first picture shows Meep Meep Meep too light, and the last one is too dark. The middle two picutres are most colour accurate as it's really somewhere in between, and very prettyful.

Tomorrow is galaxy nails, or something...I will check first, promise ;)

NOTD - Half mooning with the kool kidz

Happy Sunday everyone! I always have mixed emotions about Sundays. On one hand it's usually a chilled out, relaxed day full of food, nice walks and playing with the kids, but then again, it's Monday tomorrow. Meh.

Anyway, I decided to create a half moon manicure because it seems to be the thing to do at the moment. And it looks good so why not? I wanted to wear purple on my nails so I applied 3 coats of Accessorize Pin Up (acquired from Jen's blog sale), which as it turns out isn't as purple on the nail as it is in the bottle. It's purpley-red glitter in a sheer burgundy base (along a similar line to Aztec which I showed you last week) and is very pretty when it catches the light. It is a tricky one, again a bit draggy and patchy until you hit the magic thee coats, but it looks fine after that. BUT it took an AGE to dry and when I removed the french tip guides after adding my half moons (in Rimmel I <3 Lasting Finish Your Majesty - perfect opaque silver, if only I could get it to stamp...) I removed the polish underneath more than once. I patched it up, slapped on a thick coat of NYC and you can't notice the bumpy bits - it's a bumpy polish anyway.

Apologies for the pics-taken-in-the-car. I noticed a bit of wear so quickly snapped these while waiting for the OH to put his face on and wax his bikini line or something...

Sorry if this post seems a bit angry. I am in a foul mood thanks to broken promises and lack of sleep. Normal service will resume tomorrow, hopefully.
