Hi!
When the Models Own Beetlejuice polishes came out I only really wanted Golden Green (which is now also in my untrieds...) but when I saw swatches of this more recently I fell for it :) Isn't it lovely? Aqua-ey blue/green/violet goodness.
Excuse the sheet marks - I stamped over it the next morning which I'll show you tomorrow!

Untried Month - Barry M Magnetic Blue
Hi all!
Did you know Barry M have launched a range of magnetic polish? Their PR have been pretty quiet about it, so unless you've seen them in Superdrug or Boots you might not know. The colours aren't all that exciting, but, at last, we have some different magnet patterns to play with! YAY! I have been wanting a star shaped magnet and have been tempted to order one from evilbay, but then I saw this. It's not exactly a star, it actually looks more like a Union Jack to me, but I really like it. You do need to hold the magnet for a longer time, or the pattern fades away a bit, but they have the same "lip" on the lid as the other magnetic polishes available in the UK so it's easy enough. These pics show one coat with flash and no top coat.
The other colours are burgundy, lilac and charcoal. I have the burgundy and will probably end up with the other two as well...you know me! The charcoal has a really interesting fishnet sort of pattern and I can't wait to try it out.
Will you be picking any of these up?

The importance of cuticles...
...or why Helly has been in a foul mood since Friday.
Before I go on, I am just going to warn you that there are pictures in this blog post that aren't pretty. If you are half an hour either side of a meal then come back later!
You may remember me moaning on about a bad finger a while back. I had an infection under my nail, and it was so sore. I have no idea how it got there, all I know is that it was so painful I wanted my finger cut off. Slight exagerration, ok. But it was sore. It took two lots of strong antibiotics to clear it and I few weeks after the infection healed I realised I was going to lose my nail. Well, on Friday, after sporting a rather attractive bit of medical tape wrapped around it for the last few weeks, I manned up and got Mr NN to pull it off. It didn't hurt as much as I thought, but I was still gutted. It looks disgusting. I thought I'd share with you what went on.
I noticed that on one side of my nail there didn't seem to be any cuticle, and then it started getting sore. I never ever cut my cuticles, so I don't know what made it recede. I can only speculate that it was something to do with the horrific gel nails I had done just before Christmas. You can just see in this picture that the cuticle is missing on one side of my nail.
It got worse and worse and I eventually went to the doctor. The first set of antibiotics didn't help so a few days later I got some more, by then the nail looked like this. Beware:
Once the infection cleared, all was well again, apart from the absence of cuticle. Until I noticed the nail was lose at the bottom. It got loser and loser, and the nail came away from the nail bed from the infected side.
You can see in this picture that the root isn't attached to the bottom and it is just growing out at the attached side.
It's been coming off for weeks, getting loser and loser with less and less nail actually attached to the nail bed. Until last Friday night...
Ew! So, moral of the story? Look after your cuticles! Unless you happen to think deformed ET-esque fingers are attractive... I just want to emphasise that I NEVER cut my cuticles. They get gently pushed back with cuticle oil every once in a while but I never cut them. So they really are delicate things, and very important in keeping your nails healthy!
Now, I am going to ask for quick-new-nail-growing vibes please, because I am not digging going around like this:
A girl in Superdrug grimaced when she saw it the other day, and after she'd served me she got out the alcohol gel hand rub stuff! I know it's not pretty but I'm not a leper!

Untried Month - Neon and Nude
Hello :)
So apparently a big trend this season is the neon and nude manicure - a nude base with neon tips. Nails Inc have been championing it and I saw a Barry M advert with one of the models sporting neon tips over a nude base and decided I had to give it a go. The base here is Color Club Nomadic in Nude and the tips are (freehanded rather wobbily) in Barry M Shocking Pink. Not exactly a great look on nubbins but beggars can't be chosers...
Have you tried a neon and nude mani? Yay or nay?

Adventures in Stamping - Unnatural Animals!
Morning!
I have had this mani ready to show you for over a week, since I got confused and missed the announcement last week and thought this was last week's challenge. Oops! Nevermind, it was pretty cool anyway :P For this mani I used LaFemme Ultra Green - a pearly lime green polish which was brushstrokey and gross. Look at the colour though! I added a coat of Sinful Colors Call You Later- a green and gold glitter before stamping the image from a faux Konad Q1 plate that I got on ebay. As the image was too big for my ickle nails, I tried to make it look as though the image went across two nails...I hope you can tell!
The plate was a little bit difficult to work with, but I used my Wet n Wild Black Creme to stamp with and that in itself is temperamental. I swatched the whole plate and I know with a bit of trial and error I could get them all to work, so I'm pleased!!

Untrieds Month - Petites Zodiac and Icing Lemme See Your Peacock
Hi!
More polishes from birthday clubbers/springsurprises/awesome swaps today! I broke a nail a few days ago so took them all to nubs, and to me, nothing suits nubbins better than purple. This pretty purple was sitting in my untrieds all unloved so I whipped it on and unloved it is no longer! Can you say pretty? I created an accent nail with this awesome Icing glitter - turquoise, green and purple hex glitter in a clear base. I loved it :) I was at the hospital with my son the day I wore it and all the nurses complimented me on it, which made my day a bit better!
I have so many untried purples, it's quite shamefull...

Nail Inc Freebies - Swatches!
Hello!
Nails Inc are rather famous for their freebies! I think most of my 20-somethign Nails Inc collection have been freebies form one thing or another - magazines being the most popular. This month you can get a free Nails Inc polish in one of three shades with In Style magazine. A polish worth £11 for under 4 quid? Oh, go on then!
Peach Sorbet was a 2 coater, but I did 3 in my swatch coz I got fluff on it... The other two however are shown here with 1 coat and no topcoat. Yummy, shiny, pastel goodness!
Will you be picking any up? Be quick if you do, they only came out on Thursday and I had trouble finding Bluebell...
